Diploma in Robotics and Automation

Learn to Build Machines That Think,
Move, and Transform Industries.

Automation is no longer the future — it is the present. With Malaysia targeting 3,000 smart factories by 2030, the demand for robotics specialists is far outpacing the supply. The UNIMY Diploma in Robotics and Automation is engineered to bridge that gap. Built in direct consultation with industry leaders, this programme skips outdated theory and focuses entirely on the practical skills companies are hiring for right now.

Build the machines that run tomorrow’s world.

The UNIMY Diploma in Robotics and Automation is engineered to bridge Malaysia’s automation talent gap. Here is why it stands out.

Lab-First Learning

Build real machines from day one. Your classroom is a workspace equipped with industrial robotic arms, PLCs, advanced microcontrollers, and IoT sensors.

Guided by Practitioners

You are taught by active industry engineers who bring real-world problems, professional-grade tools, and strict industry standards into every session.

The Industry Pipeline

Tackle real project briefs, attend exclusive tech workshops, and earn certifications from global tech leaders while still in the programme.

Future Careers

High-demand skills. Limitless possibilities.

Malaysia’s robotics market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 17.50% through to 2031, driven by the government’s smart-factory agenda, multinational manufacturing investment, and accelerating Industry 4.0 adoption across every major sector. The transition to automated, digitised manufacturing is creating a critical talent gap — engineers who can design, programme, and maintain intelligent systems are among the most urgently sought graduates in the country.

In 2023, UNIMY hosted a Tech Talk on Navigating the Future of AI and Robotics in Malaysia, featuring Dr. Ishkandar Bahrin, President of the Malaysia Robotics and Automation Society (MyRAS), alongside robotics and automation engineers from Texas and across the industry. It remains one of our most attended sessions — a reflection of how seriously Malaysia’s industry is taking this space.

Why This Programme Matters

The Reality

  • Under Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030, the government has set a target of at least 3,000 smart factories by 2030.
  • Malaysia’s robotics market is growing at 17.50% CAGR and is projected to reach USD 419 million by 2031.
  • The transition to automated manufacturing is creating a significant demand-supply gap in technical talent skilled in robotics, data analytics, and embedded systems.
  • Industries from automotive to healthcare to logistics are actively deploying intelligent machines — and need engineers who can build and maintain them.

The Education

We do not teach robotics from textbooks alone. From the first semester, students train in purpose-built labs on the same industrial equipment deployed in smart factories across Malaysia.

Learning is entirely project-based and structured around real engineering problems: robotics system design and programming using industrial-grade tools, plus PLC and embedded systems programming for real automation environments.

The AI-Native Advantage

Robotics and AI are no longer separate disciplines. The most capable automation engineers today understand how intelligent systems think — and how to build hardware that works alongside them. The curriculum integrates AI across every relevant area. You will master:

  • AI-driven automation design and smart system integration
  • IoT connectivity and data-driven machine monitoring
  • Machine learning fundamentals as applied to robotics and embedded systems
  • Responsible engineering and the ethics of autonomous systems

The AI-Native Learning Experience

We do not treat AI as a secondary subject. The entire learning experience is structured around AI tools, AI reasoning, and immediate workforce readiness. You will use AI-powered platforms every semester to design, simulate, and build systems at professional speed.

  • Embedded Fluency

AI tools and concepts are integrated into every relevant module, from embedded systems and smart automation to digital electronics and professional communication. You graduate with the working habits of an engineer who has always worked alongside intelligent systems.

  • Industrial Robotics Labs

Purpose-built labs equipped with industrial robot arms, microcontrollers, and PLC systems give students hands-on access throughout the programme. Labs are designed to simulate real factory-floor and smart-facility environments.

  • Personalised Learning Analytics

Adaptive AI systems continuously monitor progress, identify weak areas, and adjust the learning pathway accordingly. You always know where you stand and what to focus on next.

  • Project-Led Assessment

Evaluated through engineering projects, lab practicals, design reviews, and a final-year capstone that mirrors how leading engineering employers evaluate junior hires — not just written exams.

  • Leadership Engineering

Communication, project management, design thinking, and professional ethics are developed throughout all years of the programme, producing graduates who are technically capable and professionally confident.
